Storytellers

Michael Roberts is a Sligoman who tells stories of the local myths and legends. He also arranges tours of the sacred sites in the county and interprets the local stories and more national stories for those who are unfamiliar with them. He is a student of ancient lore for more than 40 years and is at present writing a book of the local stories.
Michael tells the stories and shows the sights associated with the two battles of Maigh Tuirid between Formorians, De Danaan and Fir Bolg as well as telling the stories of Lough Gill, Ben Bulben, Carrowmore and Knocknarae. He can lead you to witness some of the action still taking place in the mythic landscape that is Sligo. Stay for a day or a week, there is no shortage of stories or sights to see.

Ancient Ireland Tours in Co. Kilkenny visits archaeological monuments, sacred sites etc. In the south and eastern counties there are a large number of Stone and Iron Age, Celtic and Early Christian sites - dolmens, standing stones and stone circles, some passage tombs/cairns with rock art, ogham stones, sile na gigs, hill forts, raths, High Crosses and monastic sites etc. Where possible research material is made available. The guide will take individuals or small parties for half-day to week long trips; some other arrangements including accommodation can be facilitated through us.
